SCANA wins award for outstanding economic development achievements

COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 5, 2007) – SCANA Corporation has been recognized for its efforts in support of economic development in South Carolina. Site Selection magazine, the official publication of the Industrial Asset Management Council, named SCANA winner of its “Top Utilities 2006” award.
The award recognizes performances in four categories: capital investment, job creation, capital investment per capita and jobs per 10,000 in population.
“I believe our productive staff was a key driver to winning this award,” said Harry Busbee, SCANA’s Manager of Economic Development and Local Government.
“The economy last year was on a down slope, but SCANA’s economic development team managed to create jobs and developed partnerships that improved our local economic portfolios.”
Innovative strategies used by SCANA Corporation to compete for new industrial projects, including the Kimberly-Clark, Eastman, Grant Forest Products and American Gypsum expansions in the region, thrust SCANA to the top of Site Selection’s annual rankings.
