ScanSource Conferences Make $1.6M Impact on Local Economy

GREENVILLE, SC – ScanSource, Inc., the leading international value-added distributor of specialty technology products headquartered in Greenville, S.C., is hosting its second Partner Conference of the year in Greenville this week. Approximately 485 employees, manufacturers and customers are gathered for the three-day conference called 1COMM that focuses on ScanSource’s Communications and Catalyst business units.
In March, ScanSource’s Point-of-Sale and Barcode business unit hosted its annual Worldwide Partner Conference in Greenville, attended by nearly 600 people. According to officials at VisitGreenvilleSC, the combined economic impact of the two conferences over the past two months is estimated to be $1,571,494.
ScanSource offers communications solutions in two of its business units, ScanSource Catalyst and ScanSource Communications. Through these sales units, resellers have access to voice, video, mobility, network security and data equipment from many of the industry’s leading manufacturers. ScanSource operates its Catalyst and Communications business units from offices throughout North America, South America and Europe. The 1COMM Conference gathers key customers and suppliers to hear from ScanSource leadership about the state of the business and new service and product offerings, while also providing opportunities for networking and sharing best practices.

Economic Impact
According to VisitGreenvilleSC, the estimated economic impact of the ScanSource Partner Conference is $719,301, affecting 187 jobs (see attached infographic). This is calculated from 1,013 hotel room nights; transportation costs to, from and during the conference; more than 4,000 meals; a variety of local recreational activities; retail purchases and more.
The bulk of conference activities take place in downtown Greenville at the Hyatt Regency Greenville. However, many downtown hotels, restaurants, event venues and retailers are benefitting from the influx of visitors attending the conference.
