Schmidts launch $15,000 matching gift challenge for Center for Developmental Services

January 28, 2026

Dr. William “Bill” Schmidt, founder and emeritus board member of the Center for Developmental Services (CDS), and his wife, Jean, are challenging the community to support children with developmental delays and disabilities through a dollar-for-dollar matching gift opportunity. All donations will be matched up to $15,000.

For more than 25 years, CDS and its partner agencies have served thousands of families across the Upstate. Dr. Schmidt’s vision of bringing independent service providers together under one roof became a reality in 2000 and continues to have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of children and families in the Upstate. The community is invited to participate in the matching gift challenge by making a donation or pledge through the end of February.

To learn more or to give, visit www.cdservices.org. Gifts may also be mailed to CDS at 29 N. Academy Street, Greenville, SC 29601, or given via Venmo at @CDSkids.
