School Of Nursing Earns National Accreditation
May 21, 2014ANDERSON, SC – As it begins its third year of classes, the Anderson University School of Nursing has earned accreditation from the Board of Commissioners of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Commissioners visited the Anderson campus in the fall of 2013 to see the brand new facilities of the School of Nursing, which includes the only human cadaver lab dedicated to undergraduate instruction in the region and state-of-the-art simulators used by students and instructors who are practicing nurses in a unique, Christian educational setting.
“Congratulations and deep appreciation to Dean Pamela Binns-Turner, the nursing faculty, staff, and students, and to Anderson University as a whole, stated Anderson president Dr. Evans Whitaker. “This is a significant and essential accomplishment. We are grateful to God for his continued blessing upon our beloved university, and we are thankful for all the people who have worked together to initiate these programs and work to make them worthy of national specialized accreditation.”
“The leadership, faculty and staff of the School of Nursing are delighted to receive CCNE accreditation, which validates and ensures the quality and integrity of our baccalaureate nursing program, said Dr. Pamela Binns-Turner, dean of the School of Nursing. “Specialized nursing accreditation is an essential component of our future growth, development, and success in preparing excellent, Christ-centered nurses serving to meet both local and global needs.”
The Anderson nursing program has proven successful with students as well with the undergraduate program enrolling some of the most academically qualified students in the Southeast and many more gifted students on a large waiting list for admission. The accelerated B.S.N. program had its first graduating class in December of 2013 and 93% of those students passed the nursing licensure exam on their first attempt.
