Science Center’s ‘Mr. Green’ to Retire May 22

After 36 years of teaching Spartanburg children about the wonders of science, John “Mr. Green” will retire from Spartanburg Science Center Sunday, May 22, 2016. The public is invited to the drop-in event 2-4 p.m. at Chapman Cultural Center to wish him well and to share their memories about hunting crystals, touching snakes, experimenting, stargazing, and many other icon moments in his career. There will be a special presentation at 3 p.m. Also, the Science Center is establishing a legacy fund in honor of Mr. Green.
