SCRA’s Duke Energy Innovation Center Recognized for Outstanding Design
February 22, 2012ANDERSON, SC – February 20, 2012 – SCRA announced that itsthird Innovation Center, the Duke Energy Innovation Center in Anderson,South Carolina, was recognized for Outstanding Design as a SpecializedFacility in the 2011 Architectural Portfolio of American School &University. This follows last year’s recognition of SCRA’s InnovationCenter in Charleston with an Eagle Award for Excellence in Constructionfrom the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas. “It is wonderful to receive this recognition as we have put a lot ofthought and hard work into the development of these Innovation Centers,”said SCRA Property and Asset Management Vice President Marvin Davis.“It has been a team effort with university, design and constructionpartners on each of these centers. We congratulate each of our partnerson this recognition.”
Design of the Duke Energy Innovation Center was completed by Goodwyn,Mills and Cawood in Greenville, South Carolina. The SCRA InnovationCenters are high-tech facilities that SCRA has built in conjunction withits university and civic partners in South Carolina to grow theKnowledge Economy. With these Centers, SCRA has fulfilled legislativerequirements identified in the Innovation Centers Act, which focused onthe commercialization of new knowledge-based discoveries.
