SCRA releases report on AI for the state of South Carolina

South Carolina Research Authority recently released its Artificial Intelligence report for the state of South Carolina. The report is a result of a symposium initiated by State Representative Jeff Bradley, Chairman of the South Carolina House Regulations, Administrative Procedures, Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity Committee. The symposium was held with other state, industry, and academic leaders at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in April. Consultants at RI Labs LLC compiled the report.

The AI report focuses on three areas for the state: policy, industry, and the workforce, and includes key takeaways from symposium roundtables, survey findings, and next steps for building AI capacity across the state.

To keep critical AI conversations going, interested South Carolina-based participants are invited to join the South Carolina Artificial Intelligence Consortium Hub—a space for Q&A, follow-up discussions, and collaboration, with SCRA’s Director of SC Launch, Lee MacIlwinen, as convener, and Javon Jones, investment associate, and Kelsie Davis, communications manager, as moderators.

“You can’t go one day without hearing about the benefits and the cautions we all now have with AI, and I’m excited about SCRA being a convener of important conversations in our state,” said SCRA President and CEO Bob Quinn. “AI is already impacting innovation, and the hub will provide a wonderful opportunity for us to stay ahead of emerging AI tools and how they can impact our three focus areas.”
