SCSDB contributors recognized at Philanthropy Day luncheon

J M Smith Corporation, Barbara Rippy, and South Carolina Lions Clubs were recognized for their contributions to the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind at a National Philanthropy Day luncheon in November. The luncheon was hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, South Carolina Piedmont Chapter, and held at Embassy Suites Conference Center in Greenville.
The school’s foundation named J M Smith Corporation of Spartanburg their Corporate/Foundation Philanthropist of the Year; Barbary Rippy of Union their Individual Philanthropist of the Year; and South Carolina Lions Clubs their Volunteer Fundraisers of the Year.
Each of the contributors recognized played a major role in the replacement of three playgrounds on the school’s Spartanburg campus over the last year. The playgrounds were specially designed for  children who are sensory disabled and represented a total healthy living investment of $684,498.
