October 26, 2016

Sedgefield Intermediate School (SFI) received the Whole Child Award at the 2016 South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s (SC ASCD) Fall Conference in Columbia, on Friday, October 14.

“We are excited and humbled to be recognized with a Whole Child Award from the South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development,” said Creighton Eddings, principal of Sedgefield Intermediate School. “The staff at SFI works hard each day to help our students recognize their potential, build on their strengths, and be the best students they can be. We hope that the support and guidance that we offer today will help them become the leaders of tomorrow.”

The Whole Child Award seeks to help schools ensure that students are safe, healthy, supported, challenged and engaged as they enter school each day so they are ready to learn.

Applicants for the SCASCD Whole Child Award submitted an application and video highlighting a component of the Whole Child Award in which they were seeking recognition and further support. Winning schools received a banner and a $1,000 grant, given to assist in the implementation of other goals related to one or more of the tenets of The Whole Child Initiative.
