Senator Mia McLeod selected for Aspen Institute Rodel Fellowship

September 27, 2017

COLUMBIA, SC- South Carolina State Senator Mia McLeod (D-Richland) has been selected for the 2017 Aspen Institute Rodel Fellowship biaclass. The Aspen Institute-Rodel Fellowship, according to its mission, seeks to enhance our democracy by identifying and bringing together the nation’s most promising young political leaders to explore, through study and conversation, the underlying values and principles of western democracy, the relationship between individuals and their community, and the responsibilities of public leadership; to support and inspire political leaders committed to sustaining the vision of a political system based on thoughtful and civil bipartisan dialogue; and to help America’s brightest young leaders achieve their fullest potential in public service.

“ I am beyond humbled by the opportunity to join 23 of the nation’s most respected and trusted elected voices in this year’s class of Rodel Fellows,” said McLeod. “The Aspen Rodel Institute Fellowship is a very prestigious honor and I’m really looking forward to the experience. The issues we face in this country are not partisan, so we must be able to come together to find common ground and work towards common-sense solutions. That’s how we best serve the people and communities who elect us. Prayerfully, this fellowship opportunity will allow me to be a better mom, servant-leader and even stronger voice in the South Carolina Senate,” added McLeod.
