Senior Action Announces Golf Tournament & Auction

GREENVILLE, SC – May 23, 2011 – Senior Action, the non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Greenville County’s maturing population and their families by providing access to resources needed for physical, emotional and social well-being, has opened registration for its third annual golf scramble tournament on May 23, 2011 at Green Valley Country Club.
The tournament is open to the public for tourney participation, In addition to outstanding golf, the day’s program will also include a silent auction, refreshments and plenty of awards and prizes following completion of the tournament.
This will be the third straight year that we have held the Senior Action Golf tournament, and the first time here at Green Valley Country Club, said Andrea Smith, Senior Action Executive Director and CEO. Their beautiful facilities, challenging course, helpful staff and wonderful hospitality make this one of the area’s favorite tournaments, and we are delighted to bring our players back to Green Valley.
Known for its quiet elegance and challenging golf, the Senior Action Scramble at Green Valley Country Club provides an unequaled tournament experience and affordable value. A past host of many prominent events for the South Carolina Golf Association, Carolinas Golf Association and the United States Golf Association, tournament registrations are only $80 per player, with individuals, pairs and foursomes welcome to register. The $80 fee includes golfing privileges, a gift package, brunch and beverages, prizes, an award dinner, and access to the silent auction which follows the tournament.
In addition to the spectacular golf course, Green Valley also offers tournament participants access to their multiple targeted practice area, short game practice area and expansive putting green. The tournament will begin with a 12 noon check-in and registration, followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Awards, prizes and the silent auction and dinner will follow completion of the tournament in the Green Valley clubhouse.
Sponsors are also being sought at a variety of levels, Ms. Smith noted. Opportunities include multiple levels for the tournament overall that include playing rights, plus sponsorships for the practice area, putting green, on carts, for the silent auction, and for gift packages for players.
Ms. Smith invited golf enthusiasts of all ages to register for the tournament while spaces still remain. Our focus is to bring together diverse members of the community to join with our senior members to enhance awareness and support for Senior Action’s efforts to end senior isolation, she added. We have plenty of playing spots available this year to ensure a fun and leisurely golfing experience for all registrants. Our focus is on making this the very best golf tournament that we possibly can.
Senior Action provides a variety of health and wellness programs, social and civic involvement initiatives, and a mix of dining, transportation, care management and home care services to seniors over the age of 55 in 11 locations across Greenville County, and in partnership with numerous other service providers in the community.
