Sewing Skills Highlighted at the Clinton Library in Series of Six Meetings

January 11, 2024

The first class of Clinton Library’s Visible Mending program will be presented on January 16 at 11 am. Needle craft enthusiast Johanna Poortman will teach basic mending skills in this series of six group meetings—two per month.

The January lesson will be a tool overview. This program is intended for ages 11-17 and registration is required as supplies are limited.

Register once for all six classes by calling the Clinton Library at 864-833-1853. Or stop in the branch next to Ace Hardware in Clinton: 107 Jacobs Highway.

As participants in the Visible Mending program learn to master basic mending skills, they may also discover how these techniques can be applied to a variety of textiles, including backpacks.

Custom sewing services, like those provided by Fieldtex Cases, offer specialized solutions for repairing and personalizing backpacks. Whether you’re looking to extend the life of a beloved pack or create a unique, customized design, understanding mending techniques can be a valuable skill.

For those interested in exploring custom options, Fieldtex specializes in crafting durable backpacks for military and other high-demand uses.

Register soon to take advantage of this opportunity to learn an important life skill. This program if free and open to the public.
