Shine the Light Workshop on Nonprofit Diversity and Inclusion on September 27th at The Warehouse Theatre

DNA Creative Communications (DNA), in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greenville, the United Way of Greenville County and the Hollingsworth Funds, announces the third part of its 2016 Shine the Light Nonprofit (STL) Forums series, “Accelerating Organizational Effectiveness With an Increasingly Diverse Team.” The event will take place on September 27, from 8 a.m. to noon at The Warehouse Theatre, located at 37 Augusta Street in Greenville.

Local consultants Debbie Nelson and Tan Kirby Davis will conduct the workshop for Greenville‘s nonprofit leaders. “Accelerating Organizational Effectiveness With an Increasingly Diverse Team” will focus on the different types of diversity, staff development, and how each affect an organization’s impact.

“Understanding team diversity can help an organization accelerate its impact, while minimizing the roadblocks and setbacks that can often derail teams and their work,” shared Nelson. “Davis will share ways to embrace experiential, generational and behavioral differences, and how these attributes can enhance organizational effectiveness.”

The session will kick off with a Behind the Scenes Conversation between Josh Bell – Executive Director of Teach for America South Carolina and Beverly Ward, President of Talent Management. These thought leaders will share their perspectives on diversity and inclusion. Ms. Ward led a diverse global team for IBM and is a pioneer in the field. She is a recognized industry leader in diversity and teams. Mr. Bell bring his experience recruiting, developing and working with diverse teams at Teach for America.

The workshop will also include Innovation Labs facilitated by community leaders. These facilitators will encourage attendees to share their own insights and experiences in peer conversations. Facilitators include Michael Allen – McMillan Pazdan Smith, Steve Hall – Find Great People International, Whitney Hanna – Greenville County Schools, Guy Hempel – The Hayes Group International, Julio Hernandez – Greenville Technical College, Tish McCutchen – United Way of Greenville County, Jennifer Oladipo – X Editorial, Tiffany Santagati – Southern First Bank, Tamela Spann – Hollingsworth Funds and Rochelle Williams – Gather Consulting.
