Show Love and Compassion to Someone Today

Is it safe to say that there are a lot of heavy things going on in the world right now?

Late yesterday afternoon, our oldest daughter, Corrie, sent us a picture with a caption.  The caption read: “Levi got really quiet so I went to to see what he was doing…”  The picture was of Levi (their son) leaning on their dog, Luna, sucking his thumb with his arm wrapped around her.

Levi just turned one year old.  He doesn’t even walk yet.  (He stands a lot… but why walk when you can get there quicker in four-wheel drive?)

Luna is a rescue.  No one knows what her life was like for the first couple of years but whatever it was for her, she is very skittish now.

At one years old, Levi has learned to show love and compassion… not only to his Mom and Dad… but also to a creature that didn’t even know what that was for the first two years of her life.  He sought her out, crawled over to her, and wrapped his arm around her.

For a person (or creature) to feel loved and cared for is an extremely important ingredient in life.  It is such a simple thing and yet so important.  Even a one year old can do it.

There are all kinds of people who have significant needs right now.  Around the world, around the country, and right next door.  Some of them might even be standing right next to us and we may not even realize it.

It is a great day to reach out and show love and compassion to someone today,
