Four Million Hours Worked with No Lost-Time Injuries

CHARLOTTE, NC – March 24, 2011 – Turner Construction Company in the Carolinas has achieved the significant milestone of four million hours worked without a lost-time injury. Safety is an integral part of Turner’s business process and is a top priority for everyone who enters Turner’s jobsites, from the executive leadership to the craftspeople working on our projects.

Working safely enables our employees and subcontractors to be able to go home safely to their families each and every night, said Gary Stradowski, Vice President and General Manager for Turner’s Carolinas operations. Our safety record is achieved through the diligent development of a safety plan for each of our projects and the commitment of everyone who enters our jobsites.

The major projects that Turner Construction Company is currently working on and contributing to the hours without lost-time injury are the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel, the University of North Carolina’s Energy Production Infrastructure Center and Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner Final Assembly building.

For the last four years, Turner has been recognized as a North Carolina OSHA Building STAR Company, which is the highest safety accolade a company can receive from North Carolina OSHA. In addition, Turner’s Carolinas office has earned several recent safety awards, including: North Carolina Department of Labor Gold Safety Award; Carolinas Associated General Contractors of America Presidential Achievement Award for Outstanding Safety Excellence; and Associated Builders and Contractors Platinum Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Awards.
