May 8, 2019

Reverend Dr. Sonya Lewis and Stella TLV were the honorees at Sistercare’s annual Woman of the Year Celebration on Thursday, May 2nd, 2019. The Women of the Year event recognizes two survivors of domestic violence who have overcome domestic violence, experienced significant growth, and benefited greatly from Sistercare’s services.

Reverend Dr. Sonya Lewis was selected as one of the Women of the Year because of the exceptional progress she made after receiving counseling through Sistercare. Her tenacity, resilience and strength lead to a renewed life, free of domestic violence and full of community service and outreach to others.

Ms. Stella TLV is the second Woman of the Year to be honored due to her determination and perseverance to stand up against her abuser. She received counseling at Sistercare, which helped her to overcome the interpersonal violence she endured.

The two women have triumphed and become successful in spite of the abuse and trauma they suffered.
