Sistercare receiving USC’s Community Partner Award
March 22, 201910th Annual Stand Up Carolina Hero Awards Banquet on March 26th
The Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention & Prevention (SAVIP) office at the University of South Carolina unanimously chose Sistercare as the 2019 Community Partner Award winner. The award will be presented at the 10th annual “Stand Up Carolina Hero Awards” banquet on Tuesday, March 26th from 9:00-11:00am on USC’s campus in the Russel House Ballroom, 1400 Greene Street, Columbia, SC 29208.
The Stand Up Carolina Hero Awards honor USC’s active and accountable bystanders who made a difference in the lives of others. Jennifer Taylor, Program Coordinator of Stand Up Carolina says, “[Sistercare] is an outstanding pillar within the Columbia Community and [the] staff has been incredible to work with. Sistercare’s quality care for survivors and work within the community promoting social change and equity made [the] organization a clear winner for us.”
“Being unanimously chosen for this award is a great honor and truly reflects the dedication of Sistercare staff in providing services to survivors of domestic violence in our community,” comments Nancy Barton, Sistercare’s Executive Director.
Sistercare
Sistercare is a United Way partner agency serving almost 9,000 domestic violence survivors and their children annually in Richland, Lexington, Kershaw, Fairfield and Newberry counties. The nonprofit provides emergency shelter, crisis line service, counseling for survivors and their children, legal advocacy, transitional housing, teen outreach, and hospital accompaniment to those impacted by the trauma of domestic violence.
