Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina opens grant process for organizations focused on flood relief

November 2, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – In response to the devastating flood from Hurricane Joaquin, the Sisters of Charity Foundation is taking action to support organizations that are providing flood relief assistance. We are seeking to identify South Carolina organizations that are serving individuals, families, neighborhoods and communities that have suffered from the effects of the flood. The Foundation is especially passionate about reaching underrepresented parts of S.C. that have received little funding. Through funding organizations that serve these areas of our state, the Foundation hopes to make a greater impact on rural communities affected by the flood.

If an organization would like to be considered for funding it must meet the grant criteria. This criteria is as follows:

Must be a 501c3 organization

Must serve counties impacted by flood

Must provide organization’s financial records

Must make the case for financial support for flood victims

Must define the serves to be provided

To apply, organization representatives can visit http://sistersofcharitysc.com/south-carolina-flood-relief/ and fill out the necessary information. The Foundation does not guarantee funding, but will give strong consideration to all organizations applying. The ideal applicant has a special interest in reaching outlying areas of the state that may not have ample resources to meet the needs of flood victims.

The Foundation plans to make the grant awards over the next six weeks. You will be notified if your organization is chosen for funding and also if your organization is not chosen. Awards will be made in the $500 to $5,000 range.
