Small Businesses Can Learn about Opportunities to Work on Richland County Projects

June 1, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Local small business owners are encouraged to attend an upcoming meeting that will detail the processes for eligibility to work on a variety of  Richland County projects.

Richland County’s Small Local Business Enterprises (SLBE) program and the Office of Small Business Opportunity are organizing the SLBE Stakeholders Meeting, which aims to provide the ins and outs of doing business with Richland County. The SLBE program serves as a neutral procurement tool to ensure that all segments of the local business community have a reasonable and significant opportunity to participate in Richland County contracts for projects like construction, architectural and engineering services, professional services, non-professional services and commodities.

During the Stakeholders Meeting, several County officials will discuss the details of the SLBE program and the resources available through the Office of Small Business Opportunity, as well as topics such as:

  • How to participate in Penny Sales Tax Program opportunities
  • How to participate in other Richland County bid opportunities
  • How to register as a vendor
  • The benefits of SLBE certification status

Registration for the free SLBE Stakeholders Meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 29 at Council Chambers inside the Administration Building, 2020 Hampton St., Columbia. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.
