Small Change, Big Impact: LCWSC’s “Coins that Care” Continues Helping Laurens County Families
February 11, 2026For just a few cents each month, residents in Laurens County have an opportunity to help a neighbor in need — simply by paying their utility bill.
Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission continues to offer its Coins that Care Program, an ongoing initiative that allows customers to round up their monthly utility bill to the next whole dollar. The spare change collected each billing cycle is then used to assist local residents who are struggling to pay their water or sewer bill.
While the individual contribution may seem small, the collective impact can be significant. Over time, those rounded-up cents add up to meaningful support for families facing temporary financial hardship.
Funds raised through the program are distributed to customers in need through the Laurens Baptist Crisis Center, which works directly with individuals and families throughout the community.
Jeff Field, Executive Director of LCWSC, said the program reflects the heart of Laurens County.
“Coins that Care is a simple way for our customers to look out for one another,” said Field. “When you round up your bill by just a few cents, you may not feel it — but for someone facing a difficult season, that support can make all the difference. It’s neighbors helping neighbors, and that’s what makes our community strong.”
Participation is simple. Customers who wish to enroll in Coins that Care can click here to access the form:

The Coins that Care Program serves as a reminder that even the smallest acts of generosity can create meaningful impact. In Laurens County, spare change is helping keep water flowing for families in need — one bill at a time.
