Firm increases litigation strength in Queen city
CHARLOTTE, NC – March 31, 2009 — Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP continues to expand its Charlotte office with the addition of three commercial litigators from Sonnenschein, Nath and Rosenthal. Fred M. Wood, Jr., C. Marshall Lindsay, and Evan M. Sauda have joined Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Charlotte office, further adding to that office’s litigation strength.

The Charlotte office of Smith Moore LLP opened in January 2007. In July 2008, Smith Moore combined practices with attorneys from Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann PC, to form Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP. With over 180 attorneys, the firm also has offices in Atlanta, Greenville, SC, and Greensboro, Raleigh and Wilmington, NC.
Fred Wood, who joins the firm as a partner, focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation. He also has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry in litigation arising out of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Wood has been selected by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2009, and is listed in Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite in litigation. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MBA and law degrees from Wake Forest University.
Marshall Lindsay also focuses his practice in commercial litigation, working with companies in matters involving contract disputes, business torts, product liability, construction disputes, insurance coverage and environmental legislation. Lindsay is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Evan Sauda litigates a broad range of business disputes in state and federal courts and focuses his practice on contract disputes and business torts. Sauda is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
