SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar Partners with The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through its Kitchen Karma Program

May 25, 2016

Starting on Tuesday, May 31, SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar will be partnering with The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, South Carolina Chapter to raise money through the restaurants Kitchen Karma program. Proceeds will directly support the MUSC Cystic FibrosisCare Center, which provides an interdisciplinary approach for complete cystic fibrosis care.

The inspiration for this month’s partnership came when a local family reached out to SOL about 9-year old daughter, Maggie Faye, and her daily fight with cystic fibrosis. Last year, Maggie Faye’s younger sister Ellie raised over $600 selling lemonade on a mission to support her sister and raise money to find a cure for CF. “We are so honored to be teaming up with such a great family and well-respected organization. As South Carolina’s largest Cystic Fibrosis Center, we hope we can make an impact in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis,” said owner of SOL, David Clark. SOL will be adding “Ellie’s Strawberry Lemonade” to their children’s menu and 100% of proceeds will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis.

SOL raises these funds through its Kitchen Karma program where the restaurant pairs with a local charity to raise funds over a period of six to eight weeks. With this program, SOL chooses a featured dish and a featured cocktail and donates $1 from every featured item purchased atSOL within that fundraising period. The featured items for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation partnership include the Grilled Romaine Salad and the Roasted Blueberry & Basil Margarita. SOL began the Kitchen Karma program when the restaurant opened in the fall of 2013, and since then they have donated over $23,000 to local charities.

Before working with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, SOL’s most recent Kitchen Karma partnership was with The North Charleston Dream Center, an organization that provides resources and opportunities to low income and homeless individuals and families. Over the six-week period, SOL raised over $1,400 for The North Charleston Dream Center.
