July 29, 2009

COLUMBIA, SC – July 29, 2009 –  The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce three distinguished scholarship award winners from the 26th annual South Carolina Business week program, presented by the South Carolina Cable Television Association. Each year, Business Week offers bright young minds the unique opportunity to interact with business leaders and student peers to learn more about the ins and outs of the business world and a successful career.

During the 2009 Business Week, students had the opportunity to live on the Presbyterian College campus, which boasts 240-acres and includes five buildings that are on the National Register of Historic Places. Presbyterian College offers a scholarship to any Business Week graduate that chooses to attend the college.

The following scholarships were awarded at the conclusion of 2009 South Carolina Business Week:

S. Hunter Howard Jr. Scholarship

Devin Tiernan, of Socastee High School, has been awarded the S. Hunter Howard Jr. Scholarship. Tiernan is captain of the Socastee High School lacrosse team, a member of the National Honors Society, and he has completed more than 100 hours of volunteer service this summer alone.
