South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture participates in White House Infrastructure Summit

On Thursday, June 8, 2017, South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers represented farmers and rural America at the White House Infrastructure Summit in Washington, D.C.  Lead by President Trump, Vice-President Pence and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, the summit focused on rural infrastructure improvements and regulatory reform.

“It was a great honor to represent rural America and hard-working farmers at this summit,” said South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers.  “I am encouraged by the many positive conversations about rebuilding our infrastructure, bringing about transformative projects and changing the culture in Washington.  And I particularly appreciate Secretary Perdue’s leadership for our farmers in rural areas throughout the country.”

The Summit was part of the White House Infrastructure Week dedicated to addressing the country’s crumbling infrastructure.
