South Carolina Dance Company launches month-long fundraiser benefiting dancers against cancer

South Carolina Dance Company (SCDC), celebrating its 15th year during the 2018-2019 season, is launching a month-long fundraiser throughout October benefiting Dancers Against Cancer (DAC), a charity organization that provides financial assistance to those in the dance community impacted by cancer.

Dancers Against Cancer is a beacon of hope around the nation, providing financial assistance to members of the dance community impacted by cancer. As a dance family that has been touched by cancer in many ways, SCDC is proud to have had a small hand in the total funds raised throughout the country, which have reached over $1 million for those in need.

SCDC is an Official Hope Studio, as designated by DAC, and will be offering several ways for families to participate and contribute to the fundraising efforts.  The fundraiser will take place from October 1 – 31, with a studio-wide check presentation on November 1st.

 

PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES:

Available for purchase or order in-studio:

• Dancers Against Cancer apparel
  Staff will have order forms available for DAC t-shirts, sweatshirts, and headbands.

• Pink SCDC lollipops
  Little ones will love these large, pink lollipops available for a donation.

• Dana Designs Dancewear “Pink Out”
  Several all pink designs will be available for purchase.  Custom orders available as well.

 

Opportunities for dancers:

• “Kids Dance Off” Day
  Students of all ages may make a donation and be entered into our Kids Dance Off (date TBD).

• “Not Ballet” Day
  Students may make a donation and swap their ballet attire for other dance clothes during any ballet class in the month of October.

• “Pink Out” Week
  Additional details to be announced in the coming weeks.

• “Bring a Friend to Dance” Week
  No donation necessary!  Dancers may bring friends and dress up for Halloween during the week of Oct. 22 – 26.

 

Other contribution opportunities:

• Donations
  There will be a donation jar at the front desk all month.

• Fitness Class
  An open class available to the community will offer a portion of proceeds to DAC (date TBD).

• Donations from Home
  Anyone may donate to Dancers Against Cancer via the SCDC Facebook page or at www.ImADancerAgainstCancer.org.

ABOUT SCDC:

SCDC offers a 10-month calendar, beginning in August with a year-end recital showcase each May. The recital showcase consists of six individual shows full of dances performed by the students, ages 2 – 18. During the summer months, SCDC offers many summer camps and intensives for students of all ages as well. Having six different studio spaces within its 10,000 square foot facility, SCDC is proud to offer the following disciplines, taught by award winning instructors:

SCDC Company consists of eight teams (Pre-Company, Tiny Tots, Stars, Petites, Pre-Juniors, Juniors, Teens, and Seniors) that compete on a regional and national level throughout the southeast.

 

Note: Auditions for SCDC Company are open to anyone, ages 3 – 18, and take place each May.
