South Carolina Federal now accepting applications for $45,000 in scholarships
January 14, 2025South Carolina Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications for its 15th annual scholarship program. The credit union will award $45,000 to nine outstanding students attending a traditional or technical college in South Carolina for the fall 2025 semester.
Applicants are asked to submit a short essay detailing how their education will empower them to give back to their community and positively impact the lives of South Carolinians. They will also provide an overview of their volunteer commitments, academic achievements, work experience, and financial need. A panel of credit union employees and third-party judges will review the applications.
“Each year, we are amazed by the incredible students who apply for our annual scholarship program,” said Scott Woods, President and CEO of South Carolina Federal. “These young individuals excel not only in the classroom but also as leaders in their communities, and we are honored to invest in their futures.”
Eligible applicants must be a high school or undergraduate student, have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be a legal U.S. resident to apply. The first-place winner in the traditional college category will receive a $10,000 scholarship, and the first-place technical school winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship.
Students can visit scfederal.org/scholarship to review eligibility requirements and complete the online application. The deadline to apply is January 31, and winners will be announced in the spring.
