South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Math Kicks Off GoSciTech

Three weeks of science and technology summer camp for SC middle schoolers
 
COLUMBIA, SC – June 6, 2012 – The Governor’s School for Science andMathematics (GSSM) will kick off GoSciTech, the School’s annual summercamp experience, on Sunday, June 10. The camp, which takes place on theGSSM campus in Hartsville, will run for three weeks this month: June 10 -16, June 17 – 23, and June 24 – 30.

Known as the Summer ScienceProgram (SSP) since 1989, GoSciTech was enhanced this year in responseto campers’ requests for a wider variety of hard-hitting science andtechnology experiences. Still offering traditional courses like physics,chemistry and robotics, GoSciTech now includes exciting new choicessuch as Pre-Med Anatomy, Electronics & Programming, and MarineBiology.

Serving rising 8th, 9th and 10th graders from acrossthe Palmetto State, GoSciTech provides opportunities to explore theendless possibilities of science and technology in an interactive,residential environment. All camps are led by college, university andGSSM professors, along with other professionals in their respectivefields. Students choose from a variety of experiences, gaining knowledgethat can positively impact their future.Members of the media areinvited to attend camp on Wednesday, June 20, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., on theGSSM campus in Hartsville, 401 Railroad Avenue.
