South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics Foundation announces new board members and officers

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics Foundation has elected seven new members to its board of directors and officers for 2024-25.
The following board members were elected:
- Vik Bebarta, M.D. ’90, Vice Chair for Strategy and Growth and Director at the University of Colorado Center for COMBAT Research
- Tyrone Ellis, Engineering Leader, Americas Aftermarket at Trane Technologies
- Lauren Griffith, Director – Learning & Development – Americas at Schaeffler Group
- Tom Hodge, Ph.D., Manager – B2B Project Management Office at Michelin North America
- Brian Lynch, Director – Environmental Services at Santee Cooper
- Robert Porter, IV ’92, Enterprise Architect at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina
- Eduardo Torres, Ph.D., Senior Global Product Leader at Milliken & Company
The following officers were elected:
- President: Patrick Cleary ’01, Partner at Bowman and Brooke LLP
- Vice President: Royce Shannon, General Manager of Electrical Operations at Dominion Energy
- Secretary: Jim Rourke, Shareholder at Maynard Nexsen
- Treasurer: Mary Gentry, Vice President, Treasurer and Investor Relations at ScanSource
President Patrick Cleary said “We are excited to have seven South Carolina business leaders and Governor’s School alumni join the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics Foundation Board. Along with our newly elected officers and returning Foundation Board members, we look forward to advocating for GSSM this year and supporting student and alumni initiatives in Hartsville and across the Palmetto State.”
