South Carolina sends additional emergency assistance resources to Texas

September 1, 2017

Governor Henry McMaster announced that the Pee Dee Regional Incident Management Team (IMT) has been deployed to Texas in response to Hurricane Harvey. The Team has been augmented with members of the Upstate IMT and, in total, 14 individuals have been deployed.

The Pee Dee IMT is an “all hazards” incident management team primarily serving Florence, Marion, Lee, Chesterfield, Dillon, Horry, Georgetown, Williamsburg, Darlington, Clarendon and Marlboro Counties, but may be deployed to any incident within the state, as well as other geographic areas of the United States at the request of USFA or FEMA.

The Pee Dee IMT is made up of experienced firefighters, emergency medical personnel, police officers and dispatchers who have worked three presidentially declared disasters in the last three years including the 2014 S.C. ice storm, the 2015 historic flood and last year’s Hurricane Matthew.

Earlier this week, the governor announced that two SC-HART teams were deployed along with a South Carolina Forestry Commission’s IMT and a group of South Carolina Department of Natural Resources water rescue teams.
