EDITORIAL NOTE: In this first of several short videos beginning today and running throughout the month of July, South Carolina leaders will be briefly expounding on their experiences along the trail during the fourth annual SOUTH CAROLINA SEVEN (SC7) expedition.
The month-long SC7 expedition – primarily hiking, but also rafting, kayaking, and SCUBA diving – begins in the Upstate, July 1, and will conclude in Beaufort and on Parris Island, July 30. Along the way, global expedition leader Dr. Tom Mullikin and other experts will be showcasing the state’s seven geographic wonders exploring, observing, and teaching along a unique trek closely paralleling several hundred miles of the famed Palmetto Trail from the mountains to the sea.
In today’s “SC7 minute,” South Carolina National Heritage Corridor Pres. Michelle McCollum, who serves as SC7’s logistics officer, discusses what to expect over the first few days of SC7 2023, what the weather will be like, what makes the expedition unique, and why it is important to create greater awareness of both what our state has to offer in terms of its seven “geographic wonders” and how to get involved in SC7 2023.
