South Carolina Students receive college scholarships from Workers’ Compensation insurer

The SCHB Self Insurers Fund is pleased to announce its 2021 Scholarship Program recipients. Four $1,000 scholarships were awarded. The winners were selected based on their commitment to educational excellence, community service, and extracurricular activities. The scholarship recipients and their families were recognized at a dinner hosted by the SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board of Trustees on June 23, 2021. The scholarship recipients are Wyatt Banfield (Bluffton, SC), Brayden Hawkins (Graniteville, SC), Makenzy Mills (Lancaster, SC), and Logan Richardson (Aiken, SC).

“SCHB Self Insurers Fund is very proud to support these fine students. They have demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills through their involvement with the community, participation in extracurricular activities, and dedication to academic goals,” explained SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board Chairman Herb Witter. “It is a great honor to contribute to these students and their futures through this scholarship fund.”

Wyatt Banfield is a graduate of May River High School. He will attend Clemson University in the fall to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Banfield Home Builders, Inc., written by agency partner Brabham Griffin Insurance.

Brayden Hawkins is a graduate of Midland Valley High School. He will attend the University of South Carolina Aiken in the fall. His eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Ashley Hawkins Painting, written by agency partner AssuredPartners of Georgia.

Makenzy Mills is a graduate of Buford High School. She will attend the University of South Carolina in the fall to pursue a degree in Public Health. Her eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Wallace Construction of Lancaster, written by agency partner Miles Insurance Agency.

Logan Richardson is a graduate of South Aiken High School. He will attend the Clemson University in the fall to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Richardson Construction, written by agency partner AssuredPartners of Georgia.
