South Carolina Technology Entrepreneur to Speak at Governor's School for Science and Mathematics

COLUMBIA, SC – January 23, 2012 – The South Carolina Governor’sSchool for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) is pleased to announce thattechnology entrepreneur, Jason Williamson, will address the student bodyas part of the School’s SmartChat Speakers Series. His presentationwill take place Monday, January 23, 4 p.m., on the GSSM campus inHartsville.
Williamson founded Ometric Corporation, a business basedon Mulitvariate Optical Computing (MOC), a patented technology licensedfrom the University of South Carolina (USC).

Leading the Ometricsales and marketing team, Williamson successfully commercialized the MOCplatform in a wide variety of industries including chemicals, miningand life science.
Preceding his time with Ometric, he was vicepresident of community development for the South Carolina TechnologyAlliance, where he managed a statewide network of South Carolinatechnology entrepreneurs and worked as a technology issues liaison tothe SC General Assembly.
Williamson held various other leadershippositions at Industrial Web Machines, Conterra Communications andGoldenpath, Inc.

Earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from  USC, Williamson co-founded the Columbia High-Tech Entrepreneur Councilin 1998. In 2005, he was recognized on The State’s 20 under 40 list ofrising business stars.

During his SmartChat presentation,Williamson will share his experiences as an entrepreneur and theimportance of effective sales skills in building an impactful life.  

Fundedby the GSSM Foundation, the SmartChat Speakers series is designed toenhance students’ education while inspiring them through the stories andexperiences of some of the Palmetto States’ most promising leaders intechnology, engineering, entrepreneurship, research and medicine.
