Sparkleberry Country Fair donates $25,000 for teacher grants

Richland Two teachers will be able to implement 40 projects on their wish lists, thanks to the generosity of the Sparkleberry Country Fair.  Fair co-chairman Bill McCracken and outgoing chairman John Monroe presented a $25,000 check to Richland Two Superintendent Dr. Baron Davis to pay for the projects. The money comes from proceeds from the 2017 Sparkleberry Country Fair.

The teacher grants will fund a wide range of projects including the purchase of ukuleles at Rice Creek Elementary, Sphero robots at Summit Parkway Middle, supplies to build a World War I memorial at Dent Middle School and Makerspace labs at several schools.

All proceeds from the Sparkleberry Country Fair benefit Richland Two students and teachers. In the spring of 2018, twenty-five Richland Two graduating seniors will be awarded $1,000 college scholarships from money also raised from the 2017 fair.  The Sparkleberry Country Fair is held annually the last Saturday in April.  The 2018 fair, which will celebrate its 23rd year, is scheduled for April 28, 2018.
