Spartanburg Community College’s Cherokee County Campus To Host Open House Drop-In

SPARTANBURG, SC – Spartanburg Community College’s (SCC) Cherokee County Campus in Gaffney will host a free open house drop-in on Saturday, March 10, 2011, from 11 am – 2 pm in the Harvey S. Peeler, Jr. Academic Building.
The event is open to anyone in the community interested in attending SCC. Attendees will learn about the admissions and financial aid processes and receive an overview of more than 100 SCC certificates, diplomas and associate degree programs that lead to rewarding employment in high-growth, high demand careers in business, engineering technology and industrial technology, computer technology, health and education. Faculty and staff will be available to answer questions and provide information on SCC support services that help students make the most of their educational experience.
“This is a great opportunity for recent high school graduates, parents and those seeking a new career to explore everything that SCC’s Cherokee County Campus has to offer,” says Daryl Smith, executive director of the SCC Gaffney campus. “We’re continuously adding new classes and programs so local residents have access to more options that will allow them to accomplish college or career goals close to home. And, with SCC’s low tuition, financial aid, flexible schedules, online classes and student services, receiving a college education or job training is more convenient and achievable than ever before.”
Individuals who attend will also have a chance to view a demonstration from the Gaffney High School FIRST Technology Challenge LEGO Robotics team, and learn more about the new LEGO Robotics program in development at the Cherokee County Campus.
