Spartanburg Water’s CEO honored by national magazine

January 18, 2017

Spartanburg Water’s CEO, Sue G. Schneider, was recently recognized by the national magazine Municipal Water Leader with a cover and detailed story about the utility’s mission, water quality and public outreach programs under Schneider’s leadership.

“From the Watershed to the Tap: A Conversation with Spartanburg Water’s Sue G. Schneider” focuses on a conversation between the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Kris Polly, and Schneider, where the respected leader shared key lessons of her long-time work in the drinking water and wastewater industry, and what the utility needs to be doing today to be successful for years to come.

“One thing that we’re very proud of is this: Spartanburg Water was named the “Utility of the Future Today.” Schneider said. “We were the only utility in South Carolina to receive this designation.”

The  “Utility of the Future Today” designation was awarded by a partnership of water sector organizations—the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the Water Environment & Reuse Foundation (WE&RF) and the WateReuse Association—with input from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Sixty-one utilities from around the world were selected to participate in this inaugural group. Spartanburg Water is the only utility designated in the state of South Carolina.
