Special Election for Laurens County School District 55 Date Changed – Three Open Positions

Laurens County School District 55 Board now has three open seats.

James “Bubba” Rawl recently resigned to take a new position with the South Carolina Department of Education. Click HERE for the full story about his new position. On Monday, two additional board members resigned, Todd Varner and Neal Patterson. This now leaves positions vacant for district 1, 3, and 7.

The Laurens County Voter Registration & Elections office has given notice that the election for all three positions will be held at Precincts fixed by law on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

Filing for the seat 7 is open now and will close on Monday, May 8 at 12:00 pm (noon).

Filing for open seats 1 and 3 will take place at the Laurens County Registration & Elections office, 105 Bolt Dr., Laurens, SC and will open from NOON, Friday, May 19, through NOON, Friday, May 26, 2023.

Any person wishing to register to vote in these elections must do so no later than July 2, 2023.

Early voting will be conducted at the Laurens County Registration & Elections office from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm weekdays from July 17 through July 28.

Voters who are blind, physically handicapped, or unable to read or write are entitled to assistance in casting their ballots.  The voter must notify the poll manager if assistance is needed.

Registered electors who cannot vote in person on Election Day may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot.  The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Friday, July 21, 2023.
