Special Recycling Collection Event for residents in Lexington and Richland Counties – October 20
October 15, 2018Lexington and Richland County residents are encouraged to recycle electronics, scrap metal and household hazardous waste and to have paper documents shred on site free of charge on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Irmo High School, located at 6671 St. Andrews Rd, Columbia, SC 29212. Additionally, residents are encouraged to bring clothing, furniture and household items to be reused by Goodwill Industries (thereby keeping them out of landfills) and any South Carolina resident or farmer may bring outdated, unusable or unwanted pesticides to be disposed of safely.
This event is being co-hosted by the County of Lexington Solid Waste Management department and Richland County’s Department of Solid Waste and Recycling with assistance from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, the Lexington County Stormwater Consortium, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, Goodwill Industries, Lexington County 911 operators and Irmo High School student groups.

Electronics are always accepted at Lexington and Richland County’s C&D Landfills.
NO refrigerators will be accepted.

Accepted from all South Carolina residents and farmers.
Please Note:
E-Waste, HHW and paper ONLY accepted from Lexington & Richland County households.
NO commercial/business drop-offs will be accepted.
* Electronic Waste (computers/monitors, printers, and TVs) must be recycled and may not be placed in the garbage in accordance with the SC Code of Law, 48-60-05 et seq. Residents should keep electronics intact for the purpose of recycling.
