Spring Conference set for April 21-22 at Erskine Seminary
April 19, 2010DUE WEST, SC – April 22, 2010 – Erskine Theological Seminary will host its annual Spring Conference, featuring the Robinson Lectures and the Whitesides Pastors Institute Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 22.
All sessions will be in Bowie Chapel on the seminary campus and are free and open to the public.
Dr. Esther Meek, professor of philosophy at Geneva College, will deliver this year’s Robinson Lectures, titled “Knowing, Knowing, Knowing God: Contours of a Covenant Epistemology.” She will speak at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and again at 1:30 p.m., as well as at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Dr. Walter C. Kaiser Jr., president emeritus of Gordon-Conwell Seminary, is this year’s Whitesides preacher. The theme for his three sermons is “Preaching Expositionally: The Majesty of God.” He will speak on at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and again at 2:30 p.m., as well as at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
The Robinson Lectures were established in memory of Dr. Richard Lee Robinson, former dean and professor at Erskine Seminary (1933-39) and president of the Due West Woman’s College (1910-28).
The Whitesides Pastors’ Institute was established by the Whitesides family of Gastonia, N.C., in memory of Major V. Whitesides of the Gastonia First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
