January 19, 2026

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – Stage Door Arts Academy officially opens its doors on Monday, January 19, offering a new performing arts home for children and teens throughout the Charleston area. The academy provides instruction in dance, theater, voice, and behind the scenes set design, led by award winning and highly experienced instructors, with a strong focus on confidence building, creativity, and community.

Founded by local female business owners Amy Toresco and Jen Skovron, Stage Door Arts Academy was created to serve a wide range of students, including kids who love being in the spotlight and those who thrive behind the scenes. The academy is designed to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for young creatives of all experience levels.

“Stage Door is about more than putting on a performance,” said co-founders Toresco and Skovron. “It is about creating a space where kids feel confident, supported, and excited to explore who they are, whether that is on stage, behind the scenes, or discovering their voice for the first time.”

Stage Door Arts Academy emphasizes small class sizes, award winning instructors, and a supportive culture that encourages collaboration, self-expression, and personal growth. Programs are designed to help students develop technical skills while also building teamwork, communication, and confidence that extends beyond the studio.

The academy’s opening marks a new addition to the Charleston arts and education community, providing families with a creative outlet rooted in inclusion, encouragement, and connection.
