Stakeholders bring Blue Zones exploration process to a close

September 20, 2018

Thursday, September 20th, a group of local stakeholders evaluating the Blue Zones Project for possible implementation in the Charleston area concluded that there was not a viable path forward for the project at this time.

City of Charleston spokesman Jack O’Toole said, “Everyone involved would like to thank Blue Zones for helping us to better understand their communitywide approach to wellness, and for all the time they’ve shared with local stakeholders over the past several months. This was exactly the sort of constructive dialogue that area officials were hoping for when they decided to evaluate this project earlier this year, and the lessons learned will be applied in the development of new and more effective wellness initiatives here in Charleston in the months and years ahead.”
