State Museum seeks artists for 30th Anniversary Juried Exhibition

The South Carolina Museum is now accepting entries from South Carolina artists for its 30th Anniversary Juried Art Exhibition opening Saturday, Nov. 3. Artists working in any medium from across the state will have the opportunity to be selected to exhibit their work at the museum and win cash prizes up to $1,500.

This juried exhibition is open to residents of South Carolina who are 18 years of age or older. Individual artists must submit their own work; collectives and collaborative projects may not enter. Each artist may submit up to three works of art for consideration. Only original works of art that have not previously been exhibited at the South Carolina State Museum will be accepted. Work must have been created by the applicant within the last three years. Original works of art from any medium will be considered, including but not limited to: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, fiber art, sculpture, jewelry and ceramics.

All submission materials must be submitted via scmuseum.org by Friday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m. A non-refundable entry fee of $30 per artist for up to three works of art submitted must be included upon submission of materials. All submissions will be judged by a panel of jurors, made up of previous State Museum art curators, for inclusion in the exhibition as well select  the following awards:

  • $1500 First Place/Best in Show
  • $1000 Second Place
  • $500 Third Place
  • $250 Honorable Mention (3)

There will also be a $250 People’s Choice Award, selected by the public, and a Curator’s Choice Purchase Award, which will be selected by the Curator of Art and the South Carolina State Museum’s Acquisition Committee.
