State organization recognizes two emerging leaders in the district
August 30, 2024Compellingly leading the way, two employees in Richland Two are on an elite list of educators in the Emerging Leaders Class of 2024-2025. The South Carolina ASCD recently announced that Dr. Kedralyn Folk and Brandon Reeder are among 24 educators in this select group.
The South Carolina Emerging Leader Program is comprised of an accomplished group of educators, generally with five to 15 years of experience, who desire to become more involved in our state’s educational community. Emerging Leaders are enthusiastic and committed to the “Whole Child” a belief that every child in the state deserves to be healthy, safe, supported, challenged, and engaged.
Dr. Folk is an Innovation Program Specialist at the District Office and Reeder serves as the sixth grade Assistant Principal at Blythewood Middle School.
Dr. Kedralyn Folk
Dr. Folks says, “I am truly honored to be recognized as an Emerging Leader. I am excited to continue making a positive impact on education with a keen focus on improving education for our students. I am also looking forward to collaborating with the other Emerging Leaders to share best practices and advocate for Whole Child learning that empowers students and educators.”
Folk is a native of Ehrhardt, SC. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University. She started her career as a certified educator and taught Kindergarten, third, and fourth grades. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Education in Teaching from the University of South Carolina (USC) and an Educational Specialist in Instructional Technology from Coastal Carolina University. Additionally, she completed her Doctor of Education in Education Systems Improvement Science at Clemson University.
Brandon Reeder
Reeder says, “I am a firm believer in the power of WE; committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure all students can succeed. I am excited and honored to be selected for this prestigious program dedicated to educating the “Whole Child” and to represent Richland Two.”
Reeder is a native of Blythewood, SC, and a proud product of the district. He has experience as a math teacher, teacher leader, and assistant administrator, all at the middle school level. Reeder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Level Education from Winthrop University. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from USC where he is pursuing a doctoral degree in the Educational Practice and Innovation program.
