Statewide coalition hosts Disability Benefits & Employment Workshop

WorkshopThe SC Disability Employment Coalition announced their upcoming Disability Benefits & Employment Workshop on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Trident SC Works Center in North Charleston (1930 Hanahan Rd, Suite 200). State and private organizations will be available to assist individuals with disabilities interested in returning to work or increasing their earnings. This free workshop will focus on dispelling myths about disability benefits and work. After the workshop, a resource fair will be held for individuals to connect directly with community organizations.

“We know that barriers to employment for people with disabilities still exist in South Carolina,” says Sandy Jordan, Director of Employment Programs with Able South Carolina. “The barriers that people encounter can be quite daunting, but we are committed to educating people about their rights and the services available to support them in meeting their employment goals. Seventy perfect of individuals with disabilities in South Carolina are unemployed however are capable of competitive, integrated employment.”

“Disability Benefits & Employment: Make it Work for You!” is brought to you by the SC Disability Employment Coalition, a taskforce of over thirty employers, state, and private agencies working to address the employment barriers of people with disabilities in South Carolina. The Coalition is made possible with funding from the Administration for Community Living and the SC Developmental Disabilities Council.

“Disability Benefits & Employment: Make it Work for You!” will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on February 22, 2017 at the Trident SC Works Center, 1930 Hanahan Rd. Suite 200.
