Stewart and King Claim Big South Weekly Honors

The Presbyterian Blue Hose men’s basketball swept the Big South Conference weekly awards this week. Presbyterian Blue Hose senior guard Kobe Stewart captured the league’s Player of the Week award while freshman guard Iverson King earned his second Freshman of the Week award as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Stewart is the tenth different Presbyterian player to earn the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award in the program’s history. King is the Big South Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week and the seventh player in the program’s history to earn multiple Big South Freshman of the Week awards.

STEWART NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Augusta, Georgia native averaged 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists in Presbyterian’s two games while shooting 70.8 percent from the field and 60 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Stewart scored 16 points (shooting 6-for-9 from the field) while grabbing three rebounds with four assists in Presbyterian’s win over Charleston Southern on January 22.

Against Radford on January 25, he scored a career-high 28 points (shooting 11-for-15 from the field and 6-for-9 from beyond the three-point arc)  while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out two assists. With his basket at the 15:55 mark of the first half of the Radford game, he scored his 1,000th career point.

For the season, Stewart averages a team-leading 14.8 points per game, shooting 47.8 percent from the field, and grabbing 4.8 boards per game.

KING’S SECOND FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK AWARD
The Lewisville, North Carolina averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field in Presbyterian’s two games last week.

In Presbyterian’s win over Charleston Southern on January 22, he grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds while scoring five points.

In the January 25th game against Radford, he scored 14 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the field, 3-for-3 from the free throw line while grabbing three rebounds.

This season, King averages 6.3 points while shooting 59.8 percent from the field. He has seen action in all 22 of Presbyterian’s games with four starts.
