Stogie’s on Musgrove Cigar Lounge Coming to Clinton
August 8, 2022Another new business is coming to downtown Clinton in just a few weeks.
Stogies on Musgrove, a cigar lounge, will join a growing list of cigar lounges in the Upstate and provide a place for locals to relax and enjoy a fine hand rolled cigar with a beer or glass of wine.
Cigar lounges have increased in popularity in recent years. With a speak easy feeling and atmosphere, they provide a private place for cigar aficionados to enjoy a smoke.
“I wanted to create a place where adults could come and relax after a day at work or on the weekend,” said owner Brandon Page. “Before Stogie’s if you wanted to go to a place just for a nice glass of wine or a beer, you had to go out of town.”
It’s important to note that these are not your gas station cigars. Stogie’s will carry fine hand rolled cigars and staff can assist you in the selection process based on personal preferences.
A little more about cigars.
Cigars are one hundred percent tobacco with no filters or fillers. There are three categories of cigars.
- True full-flavored tobacco
- Sweet tip tobacco
- Fully infused tobacco – flavored (can you think java latte, vanilla, Makers Mark)
In addition to the cigars, beer and wine, Stogie’s will have cigar accessories available for purchase.
New to the idea? Come by and check it out. Staff are trained and educated in the art of cigar smoking, and they can set you up. They will have cigars ranging in price from $4 to $15 a stick. A beginner would probably like the infused cigar. For instance, Java by Drew Estate is a flavored cigar that tastes and smells like chocolate and espresso. Also, the strengths of full-flavored tobacco in cigars are mild, medium, and bold. Page recommends that a beginner start with a mild cigar.
Page is an avid cigar smoker himself and has frequented many cigar lounges in Newberry and Simpsonville.
“I’m not scared of failures only regrets,” said Page. “I’m passionate about Steamers and the food we serve there and excited to provide another opportunity for locals to enjoy.”
When you think cigar smoking do you think hazy smoke-filled rooms? That won’t be the case at Stogie’s. The ventilation system at Stogie’s on Musgrove was custom designed for the space and the purpose. You will smell the aroma of fine cigars (nothing better) but you will not be walking through a room filled with smoke. You can come for the beer, wine and conversation and just relax in a locally owned establishment.
Page and his wife, Catherine Cruickshanks Page, are both natives of Clinton. Page is a graduate of Presbyterian College where he majored in business administration. After college he sold real estate, sold cars, taught school at Laurens High School, and coached football but his dream was to be in business for himself and run a restaurant. That dream came true when he bought Steamers in June 2019. The pandemic didn’t hurt them too much and may have actually helped them as locals were staying closer to home.
In October 2021 they purchased Bloom on Musgrove (100 Musgrove Street) with the idea of creating Clinton’s first cigar lounge.
Page is hoping to open in about two weeks as he is just waiting on the final inspection.
Stogie’s will be open Monday through Saturday 4-11 pm.
At this time there will be no food available onsite, but customers are welcome to order from Steamers right next door and bring it over.
In the future they plan to install a golf simulator in the back of the lounge so customers can work on their golf game between cigars.
