Stokes & Company moves, matures and earns positive peer review

February 2, 2021

Stokes & Company CPAs, a local firm specializing in monthly accounting, business advisory and payroll services for business clients, as well as individual and business tax planning and preparation, is poised to tackle its busiest season of the year – and likely a more complex tax year than ever before for many clients – with a larger, well-experienced team and a new office.

Previously located at 15 Halton Green Way, Stokes & Company has moved their Greenville office to 108 Frederick Street, Greenville, SC 29607. The new office will accommodate the firm’s growing team and support a more open and collaborative work environment, so that Stokes & Company can serve clients most efficiently and effectively.

“We are privileged to have an adaptable team that embraces positive change,” said Allen Hodges, Vice President of Stokes & Company. “While these changes have certainly stretched us, they’re also positioning us to better serve our clients for the long-term, which is a mission we can all rally around.”

Chris Roberts has been promoted to Senior Manager to supervise day-to-day operations in the Stokes & Company offices in Gaffney and Spartanburg, SC, and Tryon, NC. With years of experience serving clients in both North and South Carolina, Chris’ leadership is critical for maintaining high standards of client service and growing those three offices.

The exponential growth of the business accounting and advisory portfolio led to the promotion of Paige Gillespie to Senior Accounting Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the full team managing the firm’s clients in this service area, as well as identifying opportunities for improving processes and overall efficiency.

Rachel McClaran has also been elevated to a supervisory role as Senior Manager, as several recent Stokes & Company mergers and acquisitions brought additional tax clients to the business and required her leadership in unifying multiple locations onto a singular platform for execution of client work.

Stokes & Company recently received a positive peer review from another independent CPA firm, fellow American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) member Hurst CPAs, LLC. Every three years, AICPA member firms are required to undergo an audit of randomly selected client work by a peer firm of similar size and service offering. The review concluded that Stokes & Company complies with the rigorous quality control standards set by the national organization, ensuring client confidence in their ability to deliver top quality service.

A recent rebranding initiative will bring a new website in February as well, streamlining service offering information of all five offices into one site, offering online payment functionality and featuring client case studies.
