February 15, 2017

South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) released its January housing market data indicating a strong start to the New Year. Closed sales are at 4,660 — the highest it has been since January 2006.

There are almost 8 percent more new listings than this time last year at 9,477, while pending sales increased three percent to 5,778. Inventory shrank by seven percent to 31,647 units.

Prices moved higher as median sales price was up five percent to $179,000. Days on market has decreased six percent to 104 days. Month’s supply of inventory was down eleven percent to almost five months, indicating that demand increased relative to supply.

“January is off to a great start with the highest level of closed sales in a decade. Now is the time for homebuyers to hire a Realtor® and find their dream home,” said SCR CEO Nick Kremydas.
