Summerville’s fifth annual car show drives community support for Alzheimer’s caregivers

February 10, 2026

The ARK of South Carolina will host its fifth annual Car Show fundraiser presented by Palmetto Primary and Specialty Care Physicians on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Nexton (201 Sigma Drive) in Summerville. The free, family-friendly event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., bringing together car enthusiasts, local families and community partners to raise critical funds for Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiver support. Guests will enjoy a showcase of classic and custom vehicles, food trucks, raffles, door prizes and more.

Car owners are invited to compete for top honors, including Top 35, Best in Show, and The ARK Award, with on-site registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Entry is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event, and all makes, models and years are welcome.

Proceeds will benefit The ARK of South Carolina, a nonprofit providing vital support to families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. In South Carolina alone, more than 112,500 residents aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s, and 224,000 caregivers contribute over 369 million hours of unpaid support each year, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

“As we celebrate the fifth year of this incredible event, we are humbled by how much it has grown thanks to the dedication of our community,” said Peg Lahmeyer, executive director of The ARK of SC. “This car show is more than a showcase of beautiful vehicles. It is a powerful gathering that shines a light on the challenges faced by caregivers of those living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, participants and supporters who continue to stand with us in making a real difference.”

Since 1996, The ARK of SC has served families in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, and Orangeburg counties, offering services like respite care, caregiver support, educational programs, and more. The organization estimates that over 15,000 individuals in its service area are directly affected by Alzheimer’s or related conditions.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at various levels, offering businesses and organizations visibility and community engagement.
