Sunny Meadow Boutique to Bring Unique Children’s Fashion to Laurens
June 24, 2024A new boutique specializing in children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories is set to open its doors on the Public Square in Laurens this August. Sunny Meadow Boutique, founded by Shannon Walker and her daughter, promises to fill a significant gap in the local market for durable and stylish children’s apparel.
Shannon Walker, the owner of Sunny Meadow Boutique, shared the inspiration behind the venture. “We started the online boutique about a month ago. It was an idea that my daughter and I came up with. We are a large family, and it is a challenge to find quality, durable, and stylish outfits for all of our kids, especially the boys. Nine of my eleven children are boys, and two of the three grands are boys,” Walker explained. The overwhelming support from the local community encouraged them to expand from an online platform to a physical store.
The boutique will primarily cater to children aged newborn to 6 years, offering a range of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Additionally, they plan to sell high-quality, unique toys on a seasonal basis and hope to expand to larger sizes, especially for the “tween” category, as their business grows. The store will feature popular brands like RuffleButts/RuggedButts, L’Amour, Magnetic Me, PRODOH, Pete+Lucy, WeeOnes, and Mustard & Ketchup Kids, along with exclusive in-house brands.
“We decided to open a storefront because the community showed a significant demand for it,” Walker said. Located at 103 West Public Square, Sunny Meadow Boutique aims to provide a convenient shopping option for local families and attract visitors from surrounding areas. The store will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with private shopping appointments available.
Walker and her family moved to Laurens to be closer to their daughters. They reside on a small farm in Waterloo, enjoying family time and watching their grandchildren grow up. The family’s active lifestyle and love for the outdoors heavily influenced the boutique’s concept. “Our kids are rough and tumble and love the outdoors. Fast fashion just can’t stand up to the rigors of all these boys, so our desire is to source quality brands that will last and look good in the process, despite whatever our (and your) kids put them through,” Walker shared.
With the planned opening during the first weekend in August, Sunny Meadow Boutique is poised to become a great addition to the Laurens community, providing high-quality children’s fashion and fostering local commerce.
