Sunrise Café opens its doors on Main Street

The City of Columbia Economic Development Office and The Main Street District marked the opening of Sunrise Café on Main Street. Sunrise Café, launched by military veteran Johnny Davis, serves Southern cooking from 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., including breakfast all day.
A cool part of the story behind this restaurant is that Johnny Davis is a formerly unsheltered citizen. He believes that anyone can emerge from a challenging situation and improve if they have the desire and opportunity. He gives unsheltered citizens a chance to set small goals toward independent living by employing them at the café. In addition to providing a paycheck, he also offers employees who were unsheltered a meal and words of wisdom and encouragement.
